ACT study (Adult Change in Tought) Objectif : déterminer les relations entre exercice physique et survenue de démence Sujets > 65 ans, Seattle, Étude prospective (1994 à 2003), suivi moyen = 6,2±2 ans 6782 randomisés => 2581 participants Pas de démence à l’entrée (screening CASI = cognitive ability screening instrument) Au total 1740 inclus Décès, perdus de vu = 397 (23%)

Méthodes Incidence des démences CASI (cognitive ability screening instrument) Score > 86/100 (= MMSE > 26) Score < 86/100 => évaluation clinique, diagnostic de démences DSM IV, NINCDS-ADRDA Exercice physique Nombre de jour / semaine au moins 15’ d’exercice (interview) Marche, excursion, vélo, aérobic, natation, stretching… Exercice ? 3 / semaines (= activité physique régulière) Activité physique : PPF (Performance-based physical function) Marche, assis-debout, équilibre, force motrice 0 à 16 (16=normal)
