Continuing Accreditation The Higher Learning Commission provides institutional accreditation through the evaluation of the entire university organizationthrough the assessment of formal educational activities, governance and administration, financial stability, admissions and student personnel services, resources, student academic achievement, organizational effectiveness, and relationships with outside constituencies.

  3. IPFW HLC Reaccreditation Process • IPFW has chosen to participate in PEAQ (Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality) • Reaccreditation occurs every 10 years • Self Study document is a key element in the process • The Self Study was drafted by more than 40 members of the five Criterion committees, with revisions by 30 additional faculty and staff reviewers • IPFW process is being chaired by Carl Drummond and Steve Sarratore

  4. The Five Criteria • Mission and Integrity –operates with integrity to ensure the fulfillment of its mission • Preparing for the Future –demonstrates capacity to fulfill its mission and respond to future changes • Student Learning and Effective Teaching –provides evidence of student learning and teaching effectiveness • Acquisition/Discovery/Application of Knowledge – fosters and supports inquiry, creativity, practice, and social responsibility • Engagement and Service –identifies constituencies and serves them in valuable ways

The Four Cross-Cutting Themes • Future Oriented - Engages in planning, is driven by mission, understands change, focuses on the future, integrates new technology • Learning Focused - Assesses learning, supports scholarship, creates learning capacity, learns as an organization • Connected - Serves the common good, serves constituents, culture of service, collaborates, internal communication • Distinctive -Unambiguous mission, appreciates diversity, accountable, self-reflective, committed to improvement

Timeline August 1, 2008 Notify HLC of Coordinator, Date of Visit  September 1, 2008 Self-study begins  November 3, 2008 Self-study design submitted to HLC  December 1, 2008 Staff Liaison visit to review process and plan  November 2, 2009 Confirm Team Visit Date, Request Team Competencies  January 1, 2010 IPFW comments on Team Members  February 15, 2010 Draft of Self-study completed and distributed  May 1, 2010 Comments on draft returned  June 15, 2010 Final Version of Self-study complete  August 20, 2010 Prep for visit with Team Chairs  September 1, 2010 Evaluation materials mailed to Team  November 15-17, 2010 Site Visit  December 1, 2010 Draft of Team Report Complete  December 15, 2010 Corrections of Fact Response  February 2, 2011 Final Team Report Compete  March 1, 2011 Readers Panel or Review Committee Review
