Committee Overview • Formed in summer 2005 to make the society of more benefit to its student members • Structure • Chair: Andrea Goldsmith • Student Chairs: Ivana Maric and Brooke Shrader • Volunteer Coordinator: Lalitha Sankar • Website: Sergio Servetto, Cong Shen, Amin Mobasher • Advisory committee of regular members • Other volunteers for outreach, website development, contests, and other activities

  4. Mailing List: itsoc-students-L@cornell.edu. • Subscription-based (anyone can join) • Used to make announcements, solicit ideas, generate discussions, etc. • Participation from many countries (e.g. North America, Europe, India, and Iran) • Would like to make it more interactive and informative

Committee Activities To Date • Regular meetings at ISIT, CISS, and Allerton • Committee update, panel sessions, and other events. • ISIT’05: Q&A with IT BOG • Allerton’05: “What's Hot, What's Not, What's Changed" with El Gamal, Kumar, Mitter, Javidi, Franceschetti, and Ziv. • CISS’06: “Academic vs. Research Jobs: Tales from the front lines” with Galli, Poor, Rose, Soljanin • IT Newsletter Articles • Student Questionnaire • Outreach/University Interface • T-Shirt Design Contest (Winner: Ivana Maric)

Two Events at ISIT’06 • Round Table Research Lunch (Monday) • 6 “hot” research topics at 6 tables • MIMO BC capacity and ST coding; Capacity with Feedback; Cooperation and Relaying; Network Coding; and Secrecy System Capacity. • Student-leaders to facilitate discussion • Relevant papers posted in advance • Yahoo discussion group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/itsoc • Committee Meeting and Panel (Now) • Free lunch/T-shirts to all attendees and panelists
