  1. Things to Avoid in Maintaining the Quality of Your UPVC Windows A lot of homeowners use UPVC Windows in their homes because of its great benefits. Aside from being highly energy-efficient, it also requires less maintenance compared to other window types. Unlike such materials as wood, you won't have to worry too much about wear and tear, periodic painting and regular cleaning with UPVC. Always Use Soft Cloths and Non-Corrosive Products You will still need to maintain your UPVC windows though if you want them to for as long as 25 to 30 years. You should clean it with soft cloth, water and soap every once in a while. You can also use a water and vinegar mixture to clean off stubborn dirt, grime and even mildew. Gloss Products Can Bring Back Some Shine If you think your window frames have lost some of its shine, you can use products that can bring it back. Just use a soft cloth or a soft-bristled brush to apply this, paying special attention to places that already have marks or stains. Be careful about wiping off excess gloss product with a slightly wet paper towel before the gloss dries up. This is to make sure you have an even glossy shine on your UPVC window frames. In cleaning this type of windows, there are also several things you need to avoid if you wish to it to retain its high quality for a long time. Here are a number of them:

  2. Sponges or Rough Cleaning Products These can bring on scratches to the top layer of your UPVC frames. This is usually the top layer that gives your windows its glossy shine. While there are special products to clean your windows, you can use a mixture of one part vinegar with four parts hot water in a spray bottle for this. Apply the mixture on your frames and leave it for a while before wiping it clean with soft, damp cloth. Fresh Paints UPVC windows come in different colours and finishes. Choose the one that suits your home the best, so you won't have to think about painting over the frames any time in the future. Applying paint on your UPVC frames is one of the worst things you must avoid at all cost. Hard or Scratchy Cloths Having scratches repaired can be very expensive, so you need to stay away from using scratchy or hard cloths in cleaning your UPVC framed windows. Always keep in mind to use soft cloths as even small scratches can become a pain in the eye if you will look at your windows. Too Regular Cleaning You don't have to clean your UPVC windows every other day. Doing this will only rob your frames of its lustre. Be content with cleaning your windows as soon as you see a slight build-up of dust or grime.
