  17. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Seat: Jesus shares the seat / authority of God. • Ruler over the earth Psalm 2:6-9 (NKJV) "Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion." 7 "I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

  18. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Seat: Jesus shares the seat / authority of God. • Ruler over the earth Daniel 7:14 (NKJV) Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.

Revelation 11:15 (NKJV) Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!"

  21. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Seat: Jesus shares the seat / authority of God. • Exalted Above The Heavens • Jesus' exaltation is described in the same spatial terms reserved for expressing the exalted location of the Father’s throne. • He is not only in heaven, he is "far above all the heavens." Jesus is as high up as he can go! Ephesians 4:10 (NKJV) He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.

  22. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Seat: Jesus shares the seat / authority of God. • Exalted Above The Heavens Ephesians 4:8-10 (NKJV) 8 Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men." 9 (Now this, "He ascended"--what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) Ephesians 4:10 (NKJV) He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.

  23. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Seat: Jesus shares the seat / authority of God. • Far Above All Creation Ephesians 1:20-23 (NKJV) 21far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Jesus “far above all” every established authority. Everything is under Him! Matthew 28:18 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

  24. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Seat: Jesus shares the seat / authority of God. • Far Above All Creation Philippians 2:9-11 (NKJV) 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Isaiah 45:23 I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath. Matthew 28:18 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

  25. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Seat: Jesus shares the seat / authority of God. • Far Above All Creation Hebrews 2:8 (NKJV) You have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. Only the Father Himself exempt from Christ’s authority cf. - 1 Corinthians 15:25-28 Matthew 28:18 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

  26. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Seat: Jesus shares the seat / authority of God. • Far Above All Creation 1 Peter 3:22 (NKJV) who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. Matthew 28:18 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

  27. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Seat: Jesus shares the seat / authority of God. “The combination of these two points alone-Jesus' exercise of universal rule over all creation, and the exaltation of Jesus' position far above all creation-is enough to establish him in the place that in the Old Testament and ancient Judaism belonged to God alone.” Robert Bowman;J. Ed Komoszewski. Putting Jesus in His Place: The Case for the Deity of Christ (Kindle Locations 2642-2645). Kindle Edition.

  39. "Putting Jesus in His Place” John 20:28 (NKJV)And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" “The intent of New Testament teaching about Christ "is to include Jesus in the unique divine identity as Jewish monotheism understood it." The writers do this deliberately and comprehensively by using precisely those characteristics of the divine identity on which Jewish monotheism focused in characterizing God as unique. Richard Bauckham, God Crucified: Monotheism and Christology in the New Testament (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1999)

  40. "Putting Jesus in His Place” John 20:28 (NKJV)And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" “. . . They included Jesus in the unique divine sovereignty over all things, they include him in the unique divine creation of all things, they identify him by the divine name which names the unique divine identity, and they portray him as accorded the worship which, for Jewish monotheists, is recognition of the divine identity.” Richard Bauckham, God Crucified: Monotheism and Christology in the New Testament (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1999)

  41. "Putting Jesus in His Place” John 20:28 (NKJV)And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" • Any one of these five lines of evidence would be good support for belief in the deity of Christ. • All five lines of evidence, considered together, prove beyond reasonable doubt the Deity of Jesus Christ.

  42. "Putting Jesus in His Place” John 20:28 (NKJV)And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" • Jesus is worthy of our reverence & praise • Jesus is worthy of our trust & obedience • Jesus is worthy of our love & devotion Revelation 5:13 (NKJV) And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth . . . I heard saying: "Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!"

  43. "Putting Jesus in His Place” If Jesus Is Not Deity No real atonement - Jesus could not be the one and only mediator - Jesus is not the only way to the Father -

  44. "Putting Jesus in His Place” If Jesus Is Deity Real atonement / A sacrifice demonstrating both the love & justice of God - A sacrifice worthy of taking away the sins of the world - Rom 5:8-10; 1 John 2:1,2 Jesus is qualified to be our one and only mediator / capable of equally representing both parties - 1 Tim 2:5; Heb 8:6; 9:15; 12:24 Jesus is the only way to the Father - “Except you believe that I am He you will die in your sins” - John 14:6; 8:24; 10:9; Acts 4:12

  45. "Putting Jesus in His Place” Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God? Are you willing to confess that faith just as Peter & Thomas did? Will you turn from your sins and yield your heart and life to the teaching of Jesus and honor Him by being baptized, calling upon Him? One day you will stand before Him and give an account!

  47. Daniel 7:9-14 (NKJV) 9 "I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire; 10 A fiery stream issued And came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, And the books were opened.

  48. Daniel 7:9-14 (NKJV) 11 "I watched then because of the sound of the pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

  49. Daniel 7:9-14 (NKJV) 13 "I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. 14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.
