As of October 31, 2003, the Philippines exhibited strong performance with the availability of 214 out of 767 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) indicators. Ranking first among the 11 South-East Asian nations and fourth across Asia and the Pacific, the country is on track to reduce poverty and hunger. Key goals include halving income below a dollar a day, eradicating extreme poverty, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality, and reducing child and maternal mortality rates. Ongoing efforts are critical for progress by the 2015 target.
