  2. An Overview According to a recent survey report by experts, there are approximately 617,000 bridges across the United States. In fact, 40 percent of those bridges are structurally deficient and require reconstruction. In simple terms, the United States is facing an infrastructure crisis for the past few years. However, things are getting better after the public-private partnership.   4. Rhode Island Rhode Island is ranked as the second most populated state in the United States. According to a recent survey report, 53 percent of roads and 23 percent of bridges are considered defunct in Rhode Island. Wondering why? Well, Rhode Island spends less money than other states in the United States.

  5. California There is no surprise in seeing California on the list of structurally deficient and functionally obsolete bridges. Do you know that California is the most populated state in the world? That is why the roads of California deteriorating quickly. A recent survey report says that 16.9 percent of roads and bridges are in poor condition.

  6. Lowa Out of 24,043 bridges, 4,719 bridges in Lowa are functionally obsolete. The most traveled bridge - Rock Island Centennial Bridge is structurally deficient and needs repair. According to a report of 2016, Lowa was on the top of the list of states with the most structurally deficient and functionally obsolete bridges.
