  2. What is a Cyclopes? The Cyclops is a one- eyed giant of the race that built Olympus for the gods. The Cyclops weapon is their strength.

  3. Their Role. • The Cyclops were the first Smiths (blacksmith). Volcanoes were believed to be the aftermath of the underground work.

  4. Zeus’s Gift. • Zeus, overthrowing his father in turn, set the Cyclops free. Since they were blacksmiths they gave Zeus the gift of thunder and lightning, as thanks.

  5. Poseidon’s Gift. • The Cyclops also gifted Poseidon with a trident and Hades with the Helmet of Darkness.
