  4. Total Care in Communities Dollars Awarded by the Verdugo Hills Chapter in 2004: $22,265

  5. Please Note: • All of our unused Chapter operating funds go to support additional projects and or people.

  6. 2004 Lutheran Family Night at Dodger Stadium • Over 1,000 Lutherans in attendance! • Our Chapter raised over $10,000 for Lutheran schools in Southern California!

  7. Care Abounds in Communities • Who is it for? • Individuals, families or non-profit organizations (i.e. Lutheran schools, social service agencies, etc.) • Not for congregations!

  8. Care Abounds in Communities • How is funding made available? • Hands-on service activities • Fund-raising activities • Appeals or Collections

Care Abounds in Communities • How much money is available? • $100 minimum to $1,600 maximum for service activities (50% available in advance for supplies). • $100 minimum to $1,600 maximum for fundraising activities (per community service team). • $5,000 maximum for individuals or families (per service team – per activity). • This is depended on available funding in the Verdugo Hills Chapter and is at the discretion of the Chapter Leadership Team.

Care Abounds in Communities • How do I access available money? • Form a Community Services Team (Minimum of one individual from at least SIX Thrivent Financial member households). • Identify a need. • Receive Project Request Form from Chapter leadership team or download at www.thrivent.com. • Return to Michael Sholer.

  11. 2005Care Abounds in Communities Grant Recipients-To date, approved funding includes: • First Lutheran, Glendale Food Bank • Solheim Lutheran Home • Helping Hands Projects: • Agape Lutheran (House Painting & Repair) • St. Paul’s First Lutheran School (Fence Painting) • Laurel Hall Lutheran School Early Childhood Center (Clean-up and beautification)

  12. Other Giving Opportunities • In 2005, our Chapter will give away $1,000 in Join Hands Funds and... • $2,100 in Care in Regions funding for Lutheran schools, organizations that feed the hungry, and new mission congregations.

  13. Care In Congregations • There is currently $1,300 - $1,600 available to congregations (depending on size). • Must be used for a ministry or project within the church. • Each project must be executed through one of your three Congregational Coordinators.

  14. REMEMBER: • You MUST include Thrivent in all publicity. • Keep track of all of the hours used to plan, implement, and evaluate your project. Report these hours to Thrivent.
