  2. Scenario Students come back from lunch and recess with an inability to focus. Students are loud and interactive with one another and cannot shift their concentration. Students are playing with miscellaneous items around the classroom and few students will sit down at their desks, but instead are meandering.

  3. Approach #1 Teacher has the class all come to the carpet to read a story.

  4. Outcomes Positives • All the students have something to do • Gets are grateful students to get out of their seats Negatives • Students would still be fidgeting and unable to focus during the story • Causes teacher to have to discipline during the story • Produces short term results

  6. Approach #2 Teacher leads students in a Yo-Pa (Yoga/Pilates) exercise for 5-10 minutes.

  7. Outcomes Positives • Students use physical energy while simultaneously focusing on the teacher. • After students learn the exercises, they will be able to take turns in leading the classroom in the exercise. This build excitement. Negatives • Might make the students more hyper. • Students may argue over who gets to lead.
