  5. Through the medium of Scouting, the community have equipped us with some very special skills. Skills that in times of crisis can be put to good use It is our duty to place those skills and the resources held in trust by us, at the disposal of the community who have supported us so well

  6. “.......having been thoroughly trained in Scoutcraft, places that training at the disposal of the community for public service.” The expectation of a Queen’s Scout

  7. We can place children out of harm’s way through natural disaster, into our Dens, and use those skills and resources to deliver a proven programme

  8. But should we?

  9. Who can help? Anyone can Scouts Rovers Leaders Adult Supporters Joeys Committee Members We can all have a role in supporting the community in times of need

  10. Purpose To engage with the community providing a supportive environment for the children of those affected by natural disasters within queensland

  11. Method utilise the skills held within scouts to provide respite for children suffering during a disaster by engaging them in a scouting programme in a safe environment

  12. Benefits Respite in times of hardship and stress Support our community Building long term relationships

  13. Challenges Liaison with local Government Insurance Funding Personnel Resources Pastoral care of young people under stress

  14. History Support of Queensland flood cleanup Kokoda Junior Challenge Agoonoree

  15. Resources Required Support from Government Transport Leaders willing to share the load in times of crisis Dens with suitable accommodation Programmes and programming resources

  16. Where to from here? Do we proceed in developing this concept into a Plan? Who is on board to support the Plan?
