Top 10 things that you need to know regarding accommodations…
1. It is PSU’s responsibility to provide reasonable accommodations for students, faculty & staff
2. If you have a student in your class who is registered with the DRC then you will receive a “faculty letter” by email at your pdx.edu account from the DRC specifically outlining the student’s accommodations Link to an example of faculty letter below: Faculty letter
3. Faculty play a vital role in the interactive process
4. Do ask, in private, if the student is registered with the DRC and if not then do a warm hand-off to the DRC
5. Do NOT mention that a student registered for the class except when reading the suggested note-taker language, and do not ask about the student’s diagnosis
6. If Faculty think that you cannot grant a reasonable accommodation then please have them consult with the DRC, Office of Equity & Compliance, or Carol Mack
7. Requests for accommodations for faculty or staff are provided by HR
8. The Testing Center works in close collaboration with the DRC to assist in providing student testing accommodations
9. There is a new Reasonable Accommodation/Access Policy that provides guidance and resources Link to an example of faculty letter below: Reasonable Accommodation/Access Policy
10. Failure to Accommodate complaints are investigated by the Office of Equity & Compliance
