What has worked in the past? • A strong, enthusiastic, passionate Advisory Board Chair (ABC) • Regular monthly Advisory Board (AB) meetings • Committee structure • Strategic planning meeting • EVERYONE held responsible and accountable for a S.M.A.R.T. goal 2009 Institute for Staff DevelopmentStudents Today, Leaders Tomorrow

What’s working out there now? • Connect business partners with kids (evolution of the relationship) • Classroom presentations (an hour) • Job shadowing (a half-day) • Mentoring (once or twice a month) • Student conferences / internship preparation (full day) • Paid Internships (240 – 400 hours) • Recognition as a reward • You’ve got to ASK them! • Give them a chance to say “YES” • Pull at their heartstrings, before you pull at their purse strings 2009 Institute for Staff DevelopmentStudents Today, Leaders Tomorrow
