Cyprus Civil Defence and EUCP Training Partnership/cooperation with CP organisations from Germany (THW, JUH) and Denmark (DEMA) Participated in the designing of EUCP training courses: • Assessment Mission Course • Staff Management Course and • Media and Security Strategy Course Since 2005 organised and co-organised more than 15 EUCP training courses

  6. Assessment Mission Course of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism

  7. Assessment Mission Course (AMC) • Main Objective: needs assessment in support of local authorities • Methodology: 5-days course with one instruction day and 3 days uninterrupted field exercise with the participation of the vast majority of stakeholders from the Cyprus Community • Location: 5 districts of the Republic of Cyprus • Overall approx. 60 participants per cycle

  8. EUTAC- Technical Assistance Support Team - CECIS Reg. Kitchen EUTAC - European Technical Assistance Cooperation - is a project of the German Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. (The Johanniter International Assistance) and Cyprus Civil Defence developing a Technical Assistance and Support Team for an assistance to EU Civil Protection interventions.

International CapacitiesTechnical Assistance Support • Management (staff: 2) • Office equipment – often combined • with the communication module • Communication (staff: 4) • Radios /PCs / Internet /Mobile phones / • Satellite phones / Cameras etc. Mission Subsistence Support (staff: 4) - Beds /Food / Sanitarians /Power Mission Transport Support (staff: 2) Total staff: 12 X 3 = 36

Lessons Learnt • COMMENTS ON EUROPEAN VALUE ADDED • Networking, technical exchange of expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, interoperability, basis for mutual cooperation not only in the field but also in training, preparation and defining of standards • First multi-national TAST proved to have developed a highly qualified team, multi-nationality even with non-bordering countries and even with different cultural backgrounds works! • Improved standards for TAST (TAST Guidance Workshop) and their SOPs; first SOPs developed for TAST
