  1. First Grade Newsletter December 2nd – December 6th What Are We Learning? Letter to Parents • Reading and Writing: Author study • Math: Organizing and collecting numbers • Science: Force and motion • Social Studies: Holiday traditions Dear Parents, Wow- it’s December already! Where has this year gone? Your students have made such progress since the beginning of first grade. We want to continue that as we move throughout the rest of the year. It is very important that you continue to read with your students each night. Asking your child questions about the book and having them retell the story to you when they are finished are great activities to build comprehension. As we near the long winter break, keep these things in mind and try to continue to read with your child each night. We want them to make as much growth as they are capable of making. -The First Grade Teachers Reminders Fairy Tale Ball is coming up in January so start brainstorming ideas for a costume with your child. Any fairy tale character is an option! Upcoming Dates Dec. 16th – Progress reports available Dec. 20th – Holiday party at 8:15 a.m.
