Professional Development Objective Increase teachers’ capacity to utilize effective instructional strategies with technology to facilitate learning for the students
Essential Components forProfessional Development • Modeling-the facilitator will show the teachers how to use the technology • Practicing-teachers will have time to execute what they have learned during the session and build lessons to transfer to the classroom • Applying-teachers will use new knowledge in the classroom within a specified period of time and have the opportunity for feedback
Fundamental Principles for each Session May Include • NC Educator Evaluation System • 21st Century Learning Framework • NC Information and Technology Essential Standards
Revised Blooms Taxonomy RBT will be woven into the learning process, which will further emphasize the critical thinking requirement for student learning.
Tentative Schedule of Professional Development • September 30, 2013 – Overview presentation for the faculty • Continued sessions throughout the year. Sessions 1, 2, and 3 will address Remembering and Understanding. A school site visit will follow session 3 for classroom walkthroughs.
Sessions 4, 5, and 6 will address Applying, Analyzing, and Evaluating. A school site visit will follow session 6 for classroom walkthroughs. Session 7 and 8 will address Creating as aligned with best instructional technology strategies for Project-Based Learning and Teachers as Leaders. As a culminating event, teachers and students will have the opportunity to present their technology growth through a school-wide Digital Showcase in the spring.
