  1. RAINSHINE HOUSE ARCHITECT ROBERT M. CAIN

  2. The RainShine House has been rated the highest level possible for “green architecture” in the US from the United States Green Building Council: LEED Platinum — the first Modernist house in the Southeastern United States to achieve this much-coveted rating. The LEED Program for Homes recognizes exceptional energy-efficient and environmentally-sensitive design and construction and this team is proud to call this remarkable example of sustainable architecture and landscape design their own. 2800 square feet, three-bedrooms, 3-1/2 baths located in Decatur, Georgia on a 1/3-acre infill lot, RainShine, with its high-tech systems, will consume over 57% less energy for its day-to-day operation than would be consumed by a comparable home designed under the International Energy Conservation Code and have need of 75% less City potable water. The butterfly roof is designed to capture rainfall for a rain harvest system located in the basement (Rain) and is oriented to maximize southern exposure for a roof mounted photovoltaic system (Shine).

  3. "... a marvel of sustainable architecture. One of the South's most important examples of urban sustainability." --- The Blue Remembered Hills, Atlanta
