THE COMMISSION ON RESTITUTION OF LAND RIGHTS (CRLR) 2011/12 ANNUAL REPORT • The Commission targeted 90 new claims for settlement in 2011/12 financial year • The commission exceeded the 90 claims targeted for settlement by 326, which in total amounted to 416 settled new claims. • In response to the strategic objective of prioritizing claims for financial compensation, of the 416 settled new claims 389 claims were for financial compensation and 27 claims were for land restoration. • The Commission finalised 209 backlog claims against a target of 360 rural claims • The total capital expenditure for the financial year was R2,020 billion with R1,1 billion spent on land acquisition and transfer costs and R761 million spent on financial compensation and R87 million spent on development grants
