  1. 4 Crucial Tensile Properties Of Paper

  2. hello! FROM TEAM UEC Universal Engineering Corporation is an organization which designs and manufactures a wide range of testing instruments for pulp, paper & packaging industries 2

  3. Introduction It is no wonder that in order to use a paper for a particular purpose, there have to be certain criteria that prove the paper is apt for its usage. Manufacturers consider a set of tensile properties that together talk about multiple things about the paper. These properties include tensile strength, stretch or elongation, tensile energy absorption, and stiffness. Paper manufacturers use tensile strength testing equipment to test the tensile properties. The following PPT will discuss these 4 crucial tensile properties in brief.

  4. 4 Crucial Tensile Properties Of Paper 4

  5. Tensile Strength The tensile strength of paper refers to the maximum tensile force required to break the test sample on the tensile strength tester. It is calculated as the force per unit width of the test sample.

  6. Stretch Or Elongation The stretch, stress, or elongation percentage explains the maximum tensile strain that the test sample can withstand before it breaks or ruptures during the test. It is calculated as the percentage of the increase in stretch/elongation of the sample in comparison to the actual size.

  7. Tensile Energy Absorption TEA or tensile energy absorption refers to the ability of a paper to absorb energy when it undergoes strain or stress. It is calculated as the energy per unit area of the test sample and determines the durability or toughness of the paper. 7

  8. Tensile Stiffness The tensile stiffness of the paper determines how the paper bends, to withstand the force exerted upon it and returns back to its actual form when the pressure is removed.

  9. Endnotes So these were the four tensile properties of paper that determine the durability and toughness of the paper. Just like the tensile strength, manufacturers also test the tearing strength of the paper as a significant criterion to judge the durability of the paper. For this, they use a tearing strength tester. If you’re looking to source these machines at the right prices for your business, visit the official website of UEC. Source
