  3. What about SchoolRooms? • INFOhio’s discovery portal product. Here are the details: • SirsiDynix is no longer maintaining SchoolRooms content • INFOhio is not issuing subscriptions to SchoolRooms for SY10/11 • INFOhio is in the process of purchasing on a statewide basis Enterprise, which INFOhio will call the Discovery Portal INFOhio - What’s new Wednesday

Enterprise with INFOhio • Enterprise will contain the following for statewide deployment for SY10/11 • Incorporation of SchoolRooms content • Federated search of electronic resources • Best of Web • Improved search capabilities for: • Area Media Center Digital Video Collection • Rooms content INFOhio - What’s new Wednesday

  5. Enterprise with INFOhio • Enterprise will not address enabling configuration of 600 distinct catalogs in this version. Therefore, school catalogs will not be integrated into Enterprise this school year. INFOhio - What’s new Wednesday

Access to INFOhio’s Discovery Portal • Access will be through the OPAC – CAT or CAT Jr. To accomplish this there will be: • Updates to CAT/CAT Jr. • Levels • Choose landing grade level from 3 possible; elementary, middle, high. • Default: CAT Jr = elementary, 9-12 = highschool? • Uses INFOhio statewide authentication – IP or username/password. U/P does not stick! INFOhio - What’s new Wednesday

How does that work? • Click Discovery Portal button on any CAT/CAT Jr. screen • From results page within the OPAC, the search term is transferred to Discovery Portal • This method is not 100% guaranteed • Remember OPAC searching methodology is sometimes very “librarian-ish” and not “google-like” • If not IP-registered, prompted for u/p INFOhio - What’s new Wednesday

Déjà vu • Discovery Portal has grade levels or guides derived directly from SchoolRooms • Each of them, plus lower-level rooms, contains former SchoolRooms content plus a number of search targets • Digital Video Collection • Best of Web • Electronic Resources • “SchoolRooms-like” taxonomy remains on the left for exploration and discovery of narrower, broader, or different topics.

Schedule –Released last month • Shared the Discovery Portal with users at the User Council meeting on 10/20 and at OELMA Conference. • Delivered the changed CAT/CAT Jr. code on 10/25 – “go live” date. • Published starter documentation on 10/25. • Emailed a general availability announcement from INFOhio Central on 10/25. A Veteran's Oral History Project” • Looking for grade 10-12 American History or Video Production classes to participate in a collaborative activity that blends oral history, video production and an exploration of freedom from the perspective of our nation's veterans. The project culminates in a videoconference on December 10, 2010, that uses the advanced capabilities of the Internet2 network. Authority Control Project • Major project for FY11 • INFOhio GAB approved MARCIVE contract • Backfile processing to get new/updated authority records for records currently in CRC • CRC bib records will be authorized and enhanced with updated Reading Program Notes (Accelerated Reader, Lexile, Reading Counts). • Annual contract for on-going authority control updates for new records added to CRC INFOhio Technical Roundtable

Authority Control Project • New authority records will replace old outdated authorities in every instance statewide. • Will implement procedures for on-going authority control so all instances receive new/updated authority records periodically throughout the year for authority changes that may occur. • Additional authority control processes in JWF will eventually be implemented for local catalogs. Project Update - • Profile completed & sent to MARCIVE, Inc. • 1,050,945 records (CRC & DVC) • Oct. 22, 10,500 sample records returned. • Reports & records are being reviewed • Encounter a problem – Sirsi addressed 11/5/10 Goal – Sign off on sample records, MARCIVE will process all records and records back before the holidays.
