  1. Artwork from othercountries • Children at Hanham Abbots School looked at the artwork on the website and decided to focus on Artwork by Henri Matisse.

  2. Year 3 • Children in Year 3 were inspired by several of Matisse's paintings where he uses a lot of colour and collages to bring his paintings alive.

  3. Children arrangedinstruments in the style of oneof Matisse’s paintings'Tristesse du Roi (Sorrow of the King)‘

  4. Examples of work from the Year 3 children

  5. Children arranged flowers and plants In the style of Matisse and used this to help them design their collages.

  6. Children’s work

  7. Year 6 Children looked at the collage ‘Polynesia’ which means ‘the sea’. They made their own Interpretations of the collage using different images and colours.

  8. First the children decided on the colours they would use. Then they cut out the rectangles or squares for the background and stuck them on.

  9. Children then added silhouettes by drawing animals and sea life creatures on white paper. They then stuck them onto their collages.

  10. Lastly they made a border to go round their pictures.
