Understanding Proportions: Real-Life Applications and Examples

Proportion is the principle that relates how quantities change at the same rate. It plays a crucial role in everyday situations, such as shopping. For instance, if a pack contains 9 toilet rolls for £4, one can easily calculate the price for a larger pack of 36 rolls using proportion. This concept also extends to calculating pay rates; for example, if you know how much someone earns per hour, you can determine their earnings for any number of hours worked. Understanding proportion helps in making better financial decisions and informed choices.
