  1. A working gospel Peter Ng

  2. Philippians 2:12-13 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

  3. Commendation • 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence They have been already doing it…work harder even now more as you have been Like father encouraging his son on home work Message for all of us Christians who have begun walk

  4. Therefore • Philippians 2:5-11 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. This is what God brought to the table ..put in Motivating force behind our work of salvation is His work

  9. Contradiction "Nowhere is the paradox of divine omnipotence and human freedom in the New Testament more strikingly formulated than in these verses."

  10. 1. Grace or Works What is the role of work in my salvation?

  11. Can we work for salvation? • Romans 3:20 20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. • Romans 7:5 5 For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. • Romans 6:20 20 When you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. Thermometer, rating agency

  12. Salvation by righteousness • Romans 3:21-25 21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it- 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.

  13. God’s wrath • Romans 1:18 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

  15. KumbhMela

  16. Romans 3:24-25 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith

  17. Ephesians 2:8-10 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

  18. 2. How can it be grace if at the same time I work? work out your own salvation

  19. John 6

  20. Our work? • John 6:27-28 27 Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal." 28 Then they said to him, "What must we do, to be doing the works of God?" • 29 Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent."

  21. Our work is to believe • Romans 3:24-25 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith This is our work

  22. Faith= coming to the light • NAB John 3:21 But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God. Living according to the truth = works done in God

  24. Works evidence of faith • James 2:17-18 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. Example of hiring secretary
