Expected Outcomes • Participants will: • Understand the design of the Massachusetts Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) • Become familiar with the MTSS Self-Assessment • Have an opportunity to discuss the utility of the tool and how it might be modified to use in their state Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

Who is in the Audience? • How many participants work on grants that are focused on tiered system of supports? • How many participants work on grants that are focused on only the academic “side” of the work? • How many participants work on grants that are focused on only the non-academic “side” of the work? • How many participants work on grants that are focused on developing an integrated system of supports? • How many participants work on grants that focus on another area? The Massachusetts Tiered System of Support (MTSS) MTSS focuses on system structures and supports across the district, school,and classroomto meet the academicandnon-academicneeds of all students, includingstudents with disabilities,English language learners,andstudents who have already demonstrated mastery of the concepts and skills being taught.    4 Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

Guiding Core Values • All students can learn and achieve at high standards as a result of effective teaching. • All students have access to a rigorous, standards-based curriculum and research-based instruction. • Students receive interventions at the earliest indication of need. • A comprehensive system of tiered instruction enables schools to address the full range of student needs.
