ECONOMICS • FOOD -rabbits, ants, berries, deer, fish, clams • CLOTHING - animal skins or woven grass; cold weather - deer skin shirts, leggings, moccasins WOMEN - dresses and bonnets • SHELTER/HOME - wickiup (bark of trees laid in sheets like a teepee). Homes arranged in groups • WEAPONS/TOOLS - canoes for fishing, shells as jewelry, baskets used for many reasons

  3. SOCIAL LIFE • Lived in communities of 2,000 people • Houses were grouped together • November was rabbit hunt month • Were nomadic (traveled around following food-no permanent home)

  4. ASSIGNMENT OF ROLES • Men were the hunters of the food • Women were the gathers of the food

  5. ART • Clam shell necklaces • Woven baskets

  6. RELIGION • Feared spirits of the dead. Once you died everything you had was burned including the body and the name was never spoken of again.
