Part II. Consumers. While EVs are increasingly visible around California, many consumers are still unaware or unfamiliar with EVs. How can we collectively help auto companies and dealers build consumer demand ? What creative roles  can state or local governments play in this effort?

Consumers • How can we get more “butts in seats” to experience first-hand the ZEV driving experience • Driver ed businesses to train folks in Evs • When dealers have customers coming in for service, loaner is EV • Recognition for leadership dealerships • Government: Sustainable communities strategies – help metro regions set up sustainable living centers (homes, locations, Evs, etc.)

Consumers • How can we get more “butts in seats” to experience first-hand the ZEV driving experience • Increase Evs in fleets • More R&Ds – employers, schools etc in exchange for free chargers • ZEV financing – saved fuel costs upfront-ed • Shared… • Get vehicles to drivers for more days • Recondition gas cars as evs (jobs, recycling, ev benefits) • Car/vanpools (Seattle/King County)

Consumers • How can we get more “butts in seats” to experience first-hand the ZEV driving experience • Subsidizing Evs in rental car / carsharing (extended experience) • Public motor pools/fleets • Reducing lease rates through residual battery use • Dealerships with access cards at point of sale • Subsidizing dealership market entry barrier (infrastructure for charging & servicing) • Intermodal services (transit, etc.) • Consumer starter kit (Infrastructure location, total cost of ownership, etc) • HOV sticker (near term at least)
