  1. 8/17:Bell Work • Bell Work: Use the word “AGENDA” in a sentence. • Example: The harried mother noted with dismay that the agenda for the PTSA meeting was incredibly long. • Place any work you have for me in the middle of the table

Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) • Expectations: • 10 minute block where you read a book of your choice SILENTLY. • If you did not bring a book, please raise your hand and I will give you one. • You may request a bathroom or nurse’s pass if needed. • Please wait until IW time to ask me questions about missing or absent work. This is our time to read!

  3. 8-17: Elements of Plot Plot is the literary element that describes the structure of a story. It shows arrangement of events and actions within a story.

  4. Plot Elements Climax: the turning point, the most intense moment of the story Rising Action: the series of conflicts and crisis in the story that lead to the climax Falling Action: all of the action which follows the climax Exposition: the start of the story, the situation before the action starts, the introduction to the main characters and the conflict. Resolution: the conclusion of the story

  5. Little Red Riding Hood • We will read the fairy tale “Little Red Riding Hood” silently • As you read, try to identify the climax in the story!

  6. 8/17: Red Riding Hood • Instructions: identify all five plot elements of the fairy tale in your notebook. Draw the plot diagram in your notebook

  7. Conclusion • Complete the exit ticket and hand it in before you leave today. • Reminders: • Unit 1 Greek and Latin Packet is due FRIDAY. • The first pop quiz has been moved to FRIDAY.
