My role is to cannulate the patients for the sonohysterograms, and to perform the entire procedure of HSG with Radiologist supervision. I will briefly outline my training process, including competency and show slides of interesting pathology and demonstrate how these tests are being used i.e. fertility infertility and to demonstrate endometrial pathology

  2. Role Development A personal experience Comparitive case study HSG VS SIS Kathy Matheson 2103

  3. Overview • Introduction • My journey through role development • HSG vs SIS • Comparative case study • Conclusion

  4. Role Extension • Increased demand for HSG study • Decrease in radiogists experienced In HSG studies • Increased demand for female practitioners • Rostering issues

  5. Where do we start? • How do we go about training • Will the governing bodies allow this role extension? • Support of referrers • Practical experience

  6. Nerves before first canulation

  7. Competency raises Questions • Professional Indemnity • Supervision Accountability • Continuing education and trainingmonitoring of performance

  8. What's is my new expertise? • Hysterosalpingogram • Saline infused sonohysterography

  9. Hysterosalpingography Definition Is the radiographic demonstration of female reproductive tract with contrast medium This study best demonstrates the uterine cavity and the patency of the fallopian tubes

  10. Saline Infused Sonohysterograpy

  12. Cannula in Uterus Cervical os Ultrasound probe Saline filled syringe Cross section of a cannulised cervix

  13. Doppler showing feeding vessels Polyp outlined by saline above

  14. Advantages and • Disadvantages
