  2. Abstract • This submission is a preliminary submission for discussions on the functional requirements for TGah, based on the smart meter use case.

  3. Issues to be discussed (1) • 802.11ah Network discovery • There may be many BSSs in the same area and each BSS may support multiple services. • STA should be able to find the proper AP easily • 802.11 Association & Authentication • Collision is expected to become more serious with the increasing number of STAs compete for association & authentication • Contention-free period should be considered for Association & Authentication to reduce collision

  4. Issues to be discussed (2) • STA initial configuration • STA should report data periodically according to the service feature, for use case such as smart meter • STA need to be configured with duty cycle, server address and etc during initial link setup • Data report • STA usually has very few data to report for each duty cycle • Non-IP solution should be considered to improve throughput efficiency and reduce the frame length to save power
