A Skilled Workforce Market and Expand Enrollments • Objectives • Increase enrollments in Workforce Estimating Conference targeted postsecondary workforce education programs by 25% by 2005 through aggressive marketing and use of financial incentives. • Projects • Developing incentives for institutions • Creating forgivable loans and other financial aid for workforce programs • Developing a comprehensive marketing plan

A Skilled Workforce Promote a World-Class Research Workforce Economic Development Agenda • Objectives • Prepare, by the end of fiscal year 2003, a comprehensive Florida Board of Education strategy that identifies and builds on the individual strengths and demonstrated potential of Florida’s universities to expand their basic and applied research capabilities so as to achieve national rankings in targeted areas and increase their contributions to the State’s economic development. • Projects • Identify areas of research that are projected to achieve national rankings, within five years • Submit a joint plan with local economic development boards • Submit plans to the Florida Board of Education for review and approval
