  1. 5 Precautions To Take At Spray Tanning Salons

  2. Self-tanning chemicals which we use at home are totally safe but when going to a tanning salon will require you to adhere to some safety measures. Spray tans contain DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) which the active ingredient that changes the skin complexion. If the right techniques are used together with consistent amounts of DHA, then spray tanning becomes safe. Care must be taken not to inhale, eat, or put into the mucous membranes inside the noses, genitals, eyes, or lips. For maximum protection, take the following guidelines. I. Apply lip balm The lips have a delicate mucous membrane. The tanning chemicals must never come into contact with this body part hence the lips need a cover. ii. Get enough ventilation Ensure that the tanning salon you are visiting is well ventilated. Open air tanning beds are the perfect locations to carry out this makeup activity. Closed booths are highly discouraged but if you must use them, ensure that there are fans.

  3. iii. Make use of nose filters The nose filters protect you from breathing in the spray tan mist. You can protect your noses in other different tools that ensure safety of your lungs. Whenever the spray mist is coming out, always hold your breath as much as you can. iv. Protective undergarments These will shield the spray tan chemical from reaching the genitals. Minimal coverage underwear is recommended for women. v. Protective eyewear This includes goggles and sunglasses that keep the mist from hitting the eyes. Most salons will provide the customers with plastic eye pieces that cover the eyes. Under no circumstance should spray tanning be carried out in a garage. Most spray tan chemicals are approved and endorsed by medical associations and government authorities. Thus, self-tanning as no issues at all, and even spray tanning, only that users of the chemicals need to be intelligent and follow the necessary precautions. If you need the surest way to get tanned, self-tan yourself at home with mousse, creams, lotions, and gels. This way, you don’t have to worry about the chemicals harming your skin.
