• Odd function: f(-x) = -f(x), and is symmetric about origin

• Even function: f(-x) = f(x), and is symmetric about y axis

Even FUNCTION – SIGNS STAY THE SAME

f(x) = -5x2 -9

Plug in -1

ODD FUNCTION – SIGNS BECOME OPPOSITE

f(x) = ½ x3 + 9x

Plug in -1
