  1. Battle of the Books Wednesdays @ 7:30

  2. What is it? It is a reading competition for 3rd and 4th grade students at BBE. The actually battle is a quiz type competition answering questions about books on the reading list. There are 20 books on the list. Books will be provided to share or you can find copies of your own. The battle takes place at the end of the school year. So you have all school year to read all 20 books.

  3. Why do it? Joining Battle of the Books is a great way to make friends. You get to participate in a really fun competition. You get to be on a team. You will improve in reading and all other subjects. You will be exposed to reading books in different genres. Maybe you will find a new genre that you have never considering reading before the battle. You will be reading newer books and some older books, but they have been carefully selected & we feel you will enjoy them. IT is fun!!!!!

  4. How do you prepare? READ!! Attend the weekly meetings. This is a chance to discuss the books with others and answer practice questions.

  6. Time to get your book • You will be reading a book at the same time as several other students. • Take care of this book, it is not yours to keep. We must share these books with everyone. • Your team leader and group members will make a goal for the next meeting. • Be ready to discuss the determined pages at the next meeting. And don’t forget to bring the book! • If you would like, jot down some notes, wonderings, predictions, or even questions to ask your group. • Groups for the actually battle will not be determined until a later date.
