  • Belief in animals and plants as well as humans, and they have living souls and each soul should be treated with respect and compassion.

  • Many of the original texts are missing
  • The texts are called agamas
  • The texts had to be memorized because Jain monks and nuns were not allowed to have religious books
daily life
Daily life
  • Jains must do their best to avoid any intentional hurt to living things. In daily life harm can be minimized by filtering drinking water, not eating at night, and so on.
  • Jains must be vegetarians.
  • The only use of violence is self defense
  • If a Jain's work causes harm to the land they should try to minimize the harm and maintain complete detachment.
  • Must be truthful
  • No stealing or cheating

  • They believe in divine
  • When a person destroys all his karmas, he becomes a liberated soul. He lives in a blissful state in Moksha forever. This living being is a God of Jain religion.

  • When a Jain dies it goes to the next body immediately either animal or human
