The EFDC Model
  • The Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code (EFDC) is a general-purpose modeling package
  • Simulates 1,2 & 3-D flow, transport, and biogeochemical processes in surface water systems (rivers, streams, lakes, estuaries, coastal waters and open ocean)
  • EFDC model was originally developed at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science
  • EFDC is a public domain model
  • EFDC_DSI isDynamic Solutions-International’s enhanced and optimized version

What is EFDC_Explorer?
  • EFDC_Explorer(EE) is a pre-and post-processing tool developed by DSI for two versions of EFDC:

- EFDC_DSI (Primary model)

- EFDC_GVC/EFDC/EPA(Legacy applications)

  • EE7 significantly streamlines the modeling process:

- model Input Preparation

- Use of 2D GIS type information to define and edit model inputs

- Context Sensitive Point & Click access to cell propertise and BC assignments

  • EE7 provides a a significantly enhanced yet simpler interface than previous versions of EE
