  4. A very rough and ready calculation: The average full cost for an employee is £40k pa The average cost of an ‘exit’ £60k So, the cost of one person too many is £100k The cost of 10 people too many is £1m The cost of 100 people too many is £10m The cost of 1,000 people too many is £100m
