  1. Geometric Figures Vocabulary

  2. polygon • Is a closed plane figure formed by three or more line segments that meet at points called vertices.

  3. heptagon • Is a closed plane shape formed by SEVEN line segments.

  4. NonaGon • Is a closed plane shape formed by NINE line segments.

  5. Regular Polygon • A polygon with all sides congruent and all angles congruent.

  6. Congruent • A figure with all the same length line segments and has the same measurement for each angle.

  7. Equilateral Triangle • A triangle with three congruent sides.

  8. Isosceles Triangle • A triangle with 2 congruent sides.

  9. Scalene Triangle • A triangle with no congruent sides.

  10. Quadrilaterals • A closed figure made by four sides and four angles.

  11. Parallelogram • A closed shape with opposite sides congruent and parallel.

  12. Rectangle • Is a special parallelogram with four right angles and four pairs of perpendicular lines.

  13. Square • Is a special parallelogram with four congruent sides and four right angles.

  14. Rhombus • A special parallelogram with four congruent sides.

  15. Trapezoid • A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel lines.

  16. Polyhedrons • A solid figure that has three dimension: height, width, length with faces that form polygons.

  17. Prism • Is a polyhedron that has two congruent polygons as bases.

  18. Pyramid • Is a polyhedron with only one base.

  19. Bases • The bottom shape or face of a solid object.

  20. Lateral Faces • The polygons that connect with the base to form the sides of a polyhedron.

  21. Edges • Is a line segment that joins to vertices.

  22. Vertex or Vertices • Are a point where two or more line segments meet.

  23. Nets • A pattern that you can cut and fold to make a model of a solid shape.
