Using the Database Migration Service of AWS AWS DMS (Amazon Web Service Database Migration Service) is a service based in the cloud and facilitates quick and seamless migration of databases to AWS. Migration may be from on-premises servers to the cloud or from one cloud provider to another. Heterogeneous MigrationThis method is carried out when the source and the target database engines and their data codes, data types, and schema structures are different. Here, unlike homogeneous migration, the process is a two-step one. First, with the AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT), you have to convert data codes and schema structures of the source databases so that they match that of the target databases. Only after this can the migration be taken up. Instances of heterogeneous migration are Oracle to Amazon Aurora, Microsoft SQL Server to MySQL migrations, or Oracle to PostgreSQL.
