Is Microsoft Team’s free plan suitable for personal & businessuse? • Microsoft Teams, a proprietary business communication platform built by Microsoft and part of the Microsoft 365 family of products, was released on March 14, 2017. Users with Microsoft Teams free and various subscription plans can access it in 181 countries and 18 languages. Since Microsoft Teams free plan offers much more functionality thanfree slack, this product has witnessed a substantial increase in downloads since itsinception. • Microsoft acquired Skype in May 2011 worth US$8.5 billion, and on July 31, 2021, Microsoft discontinued Skype, leaving users with the free version. And Microsoft expected Skype users to migrate to Microsoft Teams, which some did, but owing to users' forced remote work situations due to pandemic Microsoft Teams, Troop Messenger, Google Hangouts, and other similar apps have gained unprecedented downloadsovernight. • With the foregoing in mind, it's worth noting that the majority of users who chose Microsoft Teams in Pandemic did to free users, and they continue to do so today. So, if you're undecided about whether to go with a free plan or upgrade, the information below should help you make an informeddecision. • Like any other tool, Microsoft Teams does not provide all functions in a free plan, and whatever is provided has arestriction. • Group meetings can run up to 60 minutes, which is only 20 minutes more than Zoom, and both can accommodate up to 100participants.
