  3. Lesson 1: Fractions • Fractions are not scary! Lets take this step by step • We’ll be learning how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions • Adding with common denominator This is how we do it!

  5. Lesson 1: Fractions (continuing) • Multiplication (multiplying) • When multiplying, the denominators do not have to be like terms. They can be different numbers This is how we do it! OR • Note that 3x5=15, and that 8x9=72. • We get the answer shown above by • Simplifying the fraction.

  6. Lesson 1: Fractions (continuing) • Dividing Fractions This is how we do it! X • After setting up the second • number up as a reciprocal, • multiply straight through • To get this answer there is a shortcut. • We can multiply by the reciprocal of the 2nd number.
