  8. Food in daily life; • The traditional Spanish diet is rooted in the products of an agrarian, pastoral and horticultural society. Bread; Legumes (chickpeas, beans, lentils); rice; garden vegetables; cured pork products; lamb and veal; beef; eggs; barnyard animals (chicken, rabbits); locally available wild herbs, game, fish, and shellfish, salt fish; olives and olive oil; orchard fruits and nuts- grapes and wine made from grapes, milk, sheep and dishes; honey.

  9. Catalan • Spoken in Catalonia, Andorra, Balearic Islands, Roussillon region of Southern France • 9.5 million speakers • Catalonia is a region in North Eastern Spain. It’s capital is Barcelona • Many people from Barcelona consider themselves to be Catalan rather than Spanish. • They tried to gain Independence from Spain in the Spanish Civil War from 1936-1938
