WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME MADE OF: • The cell membrane is made up of two layers of molecules, so it's called "bilayer“. • The molecules in this bilayer are called phospholipids. • Cell membranes are normally composed of Proteins, ampiphatic lipids, phospholipids, glycolipids and steroids. FUNCTION: The cell membrane is a biological membrane that separates the interior of all cells from the outside environment. The cell membrane is selectively permeable to ions and organic molecules and controls the movement of substances in and out of cells. The cell membrane also plays a role in anchoring the cytoskeleton to provide shape to the cell. In plants, the cell membrane isn’t the outermost layer. They have a cell wall. But for animals they don’t have a cell wall, which makes the cell membrane the outermost layer.
