Role of LP Development Coordinator • To further develop the formative assessment model (LP) in the Preparatory Program • To ensure high standards in planning, design and implementation of formative assessment tasks across the institution • To collect, analyse and evaluate LP related data gathered from various parties to further improve the quality and the impact of formative assessment tasks on student learning • To effectively manage and disseminate information related to LP planning, design and implementation across the institution • To keep abreast of the latest developments in the area of Formative Assessment with a view to improving our institutional formative assessment model (LP) • To archive all documents used for formative assessment purposes (resources, materials, tasks, design charts, etc.) for future institutional refererence • To maintain strict confidentiality with information entrusted at all times

Aims To enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning in the Preparatory Program to help teachers employ a data-driven approach to course design and delivery • tasks serving as “check points for learning” for students and teachers • opportunity for students to evaluate their performance/progress and help them set realistic learning goals • opportunity for teachers to realistically plan teaching based on data gathered through formative assessment tasks • opportunity for increased dialogue between the teacher and the student Leading to increased teacher accountability and ownership...

  6. LP Components Pre-/Post- tasks (Written/Oral) • Designed by teachers based on learner needs to help them complete the written/oral tasks • Completed in/outside class • Recorded on the “LP Task Design Chart” • Assessed by the teacher using relevant criteria

LP Components Standard Components (Written/Oral) • Standard across the level (reflecting level needs) and administered at the same time • FB (written/oral) given to students in the designated week across the level in class Class Specific Components (Written/Oral) • Designed by the teacher (reflecting class needs) and administered at different times • FB (written/oral) given to students by the teacher as appropriate

  8. LP Components Both Components • Completed in class • Standardisation carried out in TUs (ground rules set in meetings, spot-checking carried out by teachers, future actions identified) • Written/Oral Tasks assessed by the teacher using the BUSEL Writing/Oral Criteria

  9. LP Components Learning behaviour displayed • Time management • Genuine interest in learning • Originality of work

  10. LP Documentation • Filed by the students (LP file) • Filed by the teachers (LP Task Design Chart) • Filed by the HTU at the end of the course (hard copy/electronic version on Moodle) • Teachers enter LP grades on STARS at designated times

Role of Course Development Coordinator • To further develop the curriculum and courses in the Preparatory Program • To ensure high standards in planning, design and delivery of courses across the institution • To collect, analyse and evaluate course related data gathered from various parties to further improve the quality and the impact of courses on student learning • To effectively manage and disseminate information related to course planning, design and implementation across the institution • To keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of Curriculum Development with a view to improving our institutional understanding and practices • To archive all level and course related documents used for future institutional refererence • To maintain strict confidentiality with information entrusted at all times

Role of Level Coordinator HTUs • To further develop the levels and courses in the Preparatory Program • To ensure high standards in planning, design and delivery of courses • To collect, analyse and evaluate course related data gathered from various parties to further improve the quality and the impact of courses on student learning • To effectively manage and disseminate information related to course and LP planning, design and implementation across the institution to level HTUs, teachers and students • To archive all level, course and LP related documents used for future institutional refererence • To maintain strict confidentiality with information entrusted at all times
