It is also known as Mystery Lake since human skeletons and remains of horses were found here. The lake which is surrounded by rock strewn glaciers and snow clad peaks is magnificent and enchanting. The mystery lake of Roopkund has brought here many travellers since the discovery of human skeletons in the lake and the glacier descending into it. For many years the origin of the skeletons remained a mystery. Some thought it to be the remains of General Zorawar's Army that lost its way while returning from Tibet. Overview Area: Chamoli, Uttarakhand Highest Altitude: 5,029 meter/16,500 ft.   2. Detailed Itinerary Day 1: Kathgodam to Wan It is a small village which can be reached by bus or a private jeep/tata sumo in 8-10 hours from Kathgodam Railway Station. We will make the arrangements to reach Wan from Kathgodam. Dinner and overnight in camp. Day 2: Wan – Gairoli Patal (10 km trek) After breakfast, we will leave for Gairoli Patal. Dinner and overnight at camp. Day 3: Gaitoli Patal – Bedni Bugyal via Ali Bugyal (6 km trek) The lush green meadows and the scenic beauty at Ali and Bendi Bugyal will get the stress and tiredness out of your body. Take a relaxed stroll in the meadows surrounded by the Himalayas. Dinner and overnight at camp. Day 4: Bedni Bugyal – Baguvasa (10 km trek) Today will be a tough day as our path will get steep at each step. We will be ascending around 2,000

  3. feet of height today. A change in weather and thinning of air will make you gasp for oxygen. Take all your time to ascend and get acclimatized to the surrounding. Dinner and overnight at camp. Day 5: Baggubassa – Roopkund – Bhaggubasa (12km trek) Today you will be starting early in the morning as the trek to Roopkund from Baggubasa is another ascend. The path will be covered with snow. Hence, it is suggested you carry appropriate footwear. Once you reach the top at the lake you can relax and explore the surrounding area. The freezing air at the top is both chilling and exciting. Dinner and overnight at camp. Day 6: Bhaggubasa - Bedni Bugyal As we start descending it is suggested you mind your path as the snow paved tracks can be tricky. Dinner and overnight at camp. Day 7: Bedni – Wan After the breakfast we continue descending. It is an easier descend compared to the previous day. Dinner and overnight at camp. Day 8: Wan - Kathgodam After the breakfast we drive back to Kathgodam railway station.

All kitchen equipment 8.Equipment allowances and wages for Guide, cooks and kitchen boys Do's and Dont's Do's •Things to Carry : Backpack 40 - 60 Liters (Only carry the things required for trek) Hiking/Trekking pants/trousers and shirts (Avoid using jeans and wear comfortable clothings) Good ankle-length hiking shoes. Make sure your shoes are not new as they cause shoe bites easily Flash light with extra batteries (These will be required at night when you need guidance to walk along the camp site) Sunglasses and Caps. Hiking poles (optional) (This depends on your fitness level) Sunscreen (Get a high SPF sunscreen as sun burns are common phenomenon at high altitudes) Camera (optional) Water bottle Warm jacket/pullover (Make sure they are water resistant) Warm gloves Warm socks (at least 3 pairs) Raincoat Prescribed medication (if any) Personal Medication If Any Back Pack Cover Eco-bags                  Dont’s Do not consume alcohol before the start and during the trek. Do not litter the Himalayas during your stay there.  
