  • He was known primarily for playing bebop, hard bop, and post bop styles from the early 60s and on.
  • Hubbard started playing the trumpet in his school band.
  • He died at the age of 70.

Freddie died in Sherman Oaks, California.

  • Over a career that began in the late 1950’s, Hubbard earned both critical praise, and commercial success- although rarely for the same project.
  • He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Hubbard was once known as the brashest of jazzmen, but his personality as well as his music mellowed in the wake of his lip problem.
