Authorization AASHTO strongly supports the LTAP and TTAP programs : increase $; reduce match Safety Emphasis: SHSP updates; data; National Goal and WH Conference; increase the $’s and the flexibility; streamline NHTSA grant process; increase R&D ;Improve vehicles; enhance drivers ; performance driven Multi-year; Trust Fund Based; enhanced revenue sources; minimum number of extensions!!!

    3. Key Current Technology Sharing Efforts Transportation System Management : pavement, bridges, safety, operations ,etc. The AASHTO Technology Implementation Group( TIG )—effort Upward and downward information flow on R&D needs/priorities/implementation Involvement with AASHTO technical committees such as: research, environment, traffic, safety, materials, design, bridges and maintenance

    4. New Partnering Agreement AASHTO and NLTAPA Publications, data, information, committee membership enhancements Areas of focus TBD—potential ones include: safety; asset management; technological solutions( e.g. Highways for Life and TIG and Every Day Counts ) Making a strong partnership better
