Our project focuses on developing a safe, efficient backpacking heater addressing the 30 annual deaths and 450 injuries tied to improperly vented camping heaters. We aim to create a lightweight, marketable product that effectively heats a pre-existing insulated space while providing clean, warm air. Our design incorporates fume separation and considers key factors such as insulation and heat output. With insights from experts and extensive R&D, we are committed to crafting a product that ensures an enjoyable and safe outdoor experience for all campers.

What is our Project? • Design Problem • 30 deaths and 450 injuries occur each year from improperly vented camping heaters. • Heaters are inefficient and dangerous.
Design Objectives • Heat a pre-existing insulated space • Provide clean warm air (fume separation) • Fuel Efficient • Lightweight • Marketable Product
What have we accomplished? • Dr. Ameel • Design Constraints • Brainstorming • Camp stove/heater • Candle Operated • Insulation Sheath
Research and Development • Calculation Sheet • Insulation Factors • Coats/Sleeping Bags • Design Requirements • Heat Output • Airflow Rates
