  4. General recomandations • 3)Reward • Reenforces the pupps motivation and facilitates it’s education

  5. General recomandations • 4) Language • The instructions given must be short , simple and repeated often . The dog understands more the tone of the words rather than the sense of therm. • Even a gesture ( under the form of a threat) is an effective way to be understood.

  6. Educating the puppy • 1) Teach it its name • Say it’s name slouly and clearly to atract it’s attention. • From the first days call the puppy with the same name. • Preceded it’s name with a happy moment • When it responds reward it

  7. Educating the puppy • 2) NO!!!!! • No has to be associated with any kind of prohibition. • It must be pronunced categorically and with a firm and unequivical voice whenever you see the puppy do something prohibited. • Be careful in being coherant in your commands, what you prohibit today cannot be tollerated tomorrow neither from you or others.

  8. Educating the puppy • 3) It’s biological needs • if during your absence the puppy «soils « its self dont scold it! Scolding is only effective if you catch it on the act. • If in the house the puppy goes roud in circles , it means it is preparing to do it’s buisness; pronounce your «no» and take it outside; when finished caress and praise him

  9. Educating the puppy • 4)SIT... • DOWN... • STAY... • Always make your puppy understand what you want and reward it when it does.

  10. Educating the puppy • 5) Walking on a leash • Get the puppy used to a collar and then begin to walk it around on a leash at home , multiple times a day for brief periods • The leash must be loose : the puppy must walk close and along side you • If the puppy pulls away say «no» stop and wait that it returns into position.

  11. 6) Calling it back More than a command it’s an invitationto come to you and receive a reward: it must be a positive gesture It begins to associate the call back with food Little by little , through positive stimulus , the puppy will assimilate that the command « come here» it must immediatley come to you Educating the puppy

  12. 7) Being alone Solitude is a reality that your puppy will know either occasionally or regulary, so it’s best prepare it. At first leave for brief moments , a few minutes,. The progressively you can begin to lengthen the period of adsence so that it becomes a natural practice that will not need goodbye rituals or exuberant recongiunction. Educating the puppy
