How does a torque converter work

Torque converters are a type of engine accessory that allow an individual to increase the power and torque output of their engine. They are commonly used in cars, trucks, motorcycles and other types of vehicles. This article will discuss some of the benefits of using a torque converter in your vehicle as well as some tips for improving performance. Dominator torque converters have a unique design that makes them superior to traditional torque converters in terms of durability and power efficiency. They feature an oil-cooled stator that is designed to operate at peak efficiency regardless of th

  1. How does a torque converter work? A torque converter is a device that allows an engine to transfer its rotational power from one gear to another. In a conventional automobile, the engine’s pistons travel up and down inside cylinders. The pistons are connected by a crankshaft that turns the drive shaft, which transmits engine power to the wheels via a series of gears and transmissions. When the transmission is in one gear, called Drive, the engine rotates at a high rate and produces a high amount of torque. This high amount of torque can cause the vehicle to skid or “spin out” when rapidly accelerating from a dead stop. In order to minimize the amount of torque produced by the engine while driving at a constant speed, the transmission must be switched to another gear called Reverse. Shifting to Reverse causes the drive shaft to rotate in the opposite direction from the engine and reduces the torque produced by the engine by causing it to rotate at a lower rate. Dominator torque converters have a unique design that maximizes the performance of a vehicle by regulating the flow of fluid through the torque converter. Typically, when a vehicle is moving in a straight line at a constant speed, the fluid flowing through the torque converter is kept in check by a set of valves that only allow a certain amount of fluid to pass through the converter at any one time. If the vehicle needs to accelerate quickly, the valves are closed and the fluid flows freely through the converter until the valves are open again and restrict the flow of fluid in order to prevent the converter from over-heating and causing damage to the engine.

  2. There are three main parts to a torque converter; an input shaft, an output shaft and a stator assembly. The input shaft is connected directly to the engine and drives the output shaft through a series of gears and clutches. The output shaft is connected to the transmission of the vehicle and allows the engine power to transferred to the wheels.
