  1. Math Fellow Training 2013 Tutorial Structure and Routines Objective: Understand tutorial structures and routines and the importance of implementing them with fidelity each day. For Use by DPS and Blueprint Only.

  2. Overview • Objective: Understand tutorial structures and routines and the importance of implementing them with fidelity each day. For Use by DPS and Blueprint Only.

  3. Do Now • 3-5 minutes long • Focuses on mastering basic facts, building fluency, and solving problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division • SILENT- Fellows are silent as student walk into the room, students are silent as they work • Say as little as possible even if students appear to be stuck or need your support • Let students work independently, but guide non-verbally if necessary • Do Now Poster- includes visuals for silent clues For Use by DPS and Blueprint Only.

  4. Foundational • 30 minutes long • Curriculum- Do The Math, Do The Math Now, and Navigator • Scholastic Math Inventory is used to identify student levels of proficiency • Ticket to Leave/Exit Ticket is used to measure mastery of the foundational lesson objective • Data trackers are used to progress monitor student growth and mastery • Uses gradual release model: I Do, We Do, You Do For Use by DPS and Blueprint Only.

  5. Grade Level Level • 20 minutes long • Planned using the Common Core State Standards and building materials • Facilitated by Coordinator and planned with the grade level core teachers • Uses supplemental materials to plan, may be a problem of the day or activity for the day • ALL Fellows are teaching the same standard to ALL students • Uses gradual release model: I Do, We Do, You Do For Use by DPS and Blueprint Only.

  6. Ticket to Leave/Exit • 3-5 minutes long • Administered daily in closing to the Foundational lesson taught • Measures mastery of the lesson and objective • Graded and recorded in the Google Data Tracker daily • Used to inform the next day’s instruction • Scaffold problems’ levels of difficulty to show mastery and beyond • Could be Fellow created, from the curriculum, student recorded in a notebook, etc. • Independent, NO Fellow support! For Use by DPS and Blueprint Only.
